BCU 2 Star

Training: The BCU 2 Star course will engage the paddler in furthuring basic flat water skills and creating the desired movement of the boat through an understanding of cause and effect rather than focusing on rigidly defined strokes. Assessment: BCU 2 Star assessment will require the candidate to demonstrate an understanding of the equipment, safety, hypothermia, access, environment, planning and group awareness. The practical focuses on lifting, carrying and launching the kayak, efficient forward paddling, reversing and stopping, moving sideways, preventing capsizes through low and high braces, ruddering and turning strokes.
